According to the program of the qualifying course “Legal clinic” for students of the second course of NIP SSU, the lawyer of the reception of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union on Human Rights in Sumy Esina Natalia conducted a guest lecture on the topic “peculiarities of counseling people who suffered from war crimes. Documenting war crimes in Ukraine”
During the class students learned what is called war crimes, who in Ukraine and how they are documented, in particular about the #Tribunal_for_putin initiative document.
It was discussed how important it is to record every episode of the harm inflicted by Russian troops to civilian populations in Ukraine and why it is important to preserve historical truth for future generations.
Legal students are already aware of how many legal problems of migrants and war victims will have to be solved not one year after our victory and are ready to learn and learn from the experience of human rights defenders in order to help people.
Involving practitioners in the course “Legal Clinic” helps to form professional qualities of students and better understanding of future profession.
